Summer Tutoring

Win Within Baseball coaches are offering something a little different this summer - tutoring academic subjects for some of our athletes. Some of our coaches have graduated from some of the country's best universities - Columbia, Harvard, Amherst, Kenyon, etc... Have your child make the connection between athletic and academic success today by booking a coach to also help on the academic side of things. Email for more details!

We look forward to holistically mentoring our players!

Congrats to all Tribe coaches, parents, and players. From an email from a parent of an opponent team:

"I am the dad of one if the players from the fspbl travel team who played against the Tribe yesterday at your beautiful park. My son started game one.

I know this is not customary, but after my wife commented to me that '...the Win Within coach(es) show character and restraint and graciousnes...' I had to  agree. Wholehearrtedly. I really, really appreciated the example you set and the lack of sniping and dirty looks one sometimes gets from the other team or their booster club so to speak.

Thank to you and the well within parents for a very pleasant mothers day couple of games."

The Week Ahead

Congratulations to the Win Within teams who opened their regular seasons today. From what I understand each team had some strong performances.

This week a number of Tribe players are on spring break, and many will be out of town. Because of this, none of our teams have games scheduled for Sunday, March 25. However, we will still practice as normal. The 10U teams will practice on Tuesday from 5:00 - 6:30 at Lafayette Field, and the 9U and 11U teams will practice on Thursday from 5:00 - 6:30 at the same location.

Because there are no games over the weekend, we would like to gauge families' interest in having an optional practice on Sunday afternoon. Each coach will poll his team's parents at their regular practice this week on whether or not they would be interested in attending. If we have enough interest, then we will set something up, most likely at Takoma Community Center. The practice would be for any interested players from all teams.

If inclement weather threatens on Tuesday or Thursday, I will post an update on this website indicating whether or not practice is canceled. I will try to do as early in the day as possible, but it will probably be in the mid-afternoon. I will also send out an email to the appropriate teams. If anyone has questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at a new email address:

St. Patty's Day Tourney

11U Tribe Families,

The following schedule was just released for this Sunday's St. Patrick's Day Tournament. You'll notice we have the first game, bright and early. Please grab your travel coffee mugs and have players to the Jelleff field by 8:15am for warm-up. In between games, players will be allowed to go off-site with parents, we just ask they are back at least 30 minutes prior to their next scheduled contest. We look forward to a full and prosperous day of baseball. Go Tribe!

Coaching Positions Available

WWB is looking for qualified and motivated coaches for winter programming and spring teams. If you are interested, or know of someone you think would be a good fit (an experienced coach who is positive, enthusiastic, and cares about teaching the game to be played the right way), please let us know! Email us at

WWB coaches realize they are not only teaching the game of baseball; they are teaching valuable lifelong lessons that carry far beyond the field into the classroom, the home, and will stay with their players as they mature and develop. Coaches have their players, and team as a whole, focus on effort and personal improvement, rather than simply on winning or losing. WWB coaches help players realize that mistakes are inevitable and an important part of the learning process, and that the key to success is being able to bounce back from mistakes with renewed determination. The goal is to have players gain a sense of control over their own development and confidence in their ability to succeed – on and off the ball field. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________
