2017 Winter Programs
Winter Skills Clinic
Win Within believes that the winter is a time for improving fundamentals, cleaning up mechanics, and getting tons of reps to prepare for the upcoming spring season. In our high energy environment with a great player to coach ratio, our coaching staff will help your ballplayer make adjustments to his/her swing in our inflatable batting cage, throwing mechanics, and defensive techniques. We will also make sure your ballplayer leaves with a number of drills that can be done at home, without a coach. In addition to skill work, we will have a certified personal trainer in attendance to work on speed and agility because better athletes make better ballplayers.
All clinics are held at Georgetown Day School Lower/Middle on Sundays, January 8-March 5. Holiday Weekends (MLK & Presidents), will be held on Mondays at St. Albans School. Please join us for a great winter of baseball!

Northwest Hitting Clinic
A smaller hitting clinic in the auditorium of the Chevy Chase Community Center (5601 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20015). We will set up our inflatable batting cage for front toss, nets for tee work, and use medicine balls for strength training. Each session is open to 8 hitters.
There will be three sessions on Wednesdays: 6:15-7:05pm, 7:05-7:55pm, 7:55-8:45pm. The odd times are to accommodate other events at the community center and cage setup/breakdown. The clinic will run from January 11-March 1. Any age ballplayer is welcome at any clinic.
Northwest Pitching Clinic
This clinic will be held on Tuesday nights, 6-7pm and 7-8pm, in the Chevy Chase Community Center (5601 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20015). Each session is open to 8 pitchers. The clinic will run from January 17-February 28. This is for players 13U and below. If you have a 14U ballplayer that is interested, please send me an email to discuss.
Players will go through a series of drills with the purpose of creating healthy throwing mechanics. Many young pitchers have mechanical flaws that impact balance, and more importantly, put unnecessary stress on their elbows and shoulders. Players will throw into nets and to catchers/coaches. While most parents want to see their ballplayer throwing pitches to a catcher, we want to first make sure mechanics are sound. We don't want players to learn to throw strikes with poor mechanics, instead we want them to learn proper mechanics first, without a catcher, and then introduce the catcher once they have a strong foundation. Players will also use bands, medicine balls, and do core strengthening exercises. It will be run by two former college pitchers.
Northwest Catching Boot Camp
This clinic will be held on Tuesdays, from 6-7pm, in the Chevy Chase Community Center (5601 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20015). The clinic will run from January 17-February 28. All ages welcome.
Run by former college catcher and 13U head coach, Nick Sburlati. While many young catchers want to focus on the flashy stuff, like throwing out base stealers, the truth is, what makes a catcher valuable is his ability to receive pitches, call a smart game, and block baseballs. That is what this gritty catching camp will be all about! There will of course be time spent on throwing footwork, but the majority of the time will be spent on receiving and blocking, which is how a catcher helps his team win games.

50/50 Camps: half hitting and half defense:
These camps are geared towards players, ages 8-12, who love the game and are serious about improving their skills, novice to advanced. It's also perfect for travel players and LL AllStars, who will be playing summer ball. The half day schedule gives players the opportunity to work hard and play ball before the hottest part of the day, allowing them to give maximum effort for the full three hours. Then they can take a break, get out of the sun, and get back on the field later in the day for a practice or game.
